The speaker pranced across the stage    
with ‘carpe diems’ on his lips    
the listeners clapped entranced, amazed    
   
a preacher’s son, yep, born and raised    
he knew the form of rhetoric    
the speaker pranced across the stage    
   
and pumped the spell-bound tribe half-crazed    
to swallow their apprenticeship    
the listeners clapped entranced, amazed    
   
and starry-eyed half in a daze    
they punched the air and let it rip    
the speaker pranced across the stage    
   
and midst the giant screen ablaze    
with goals achieved … the speaker slipped -    
the listeners crapped entranced, amazed    
   
but falling flat was quite unfazed    
sprang up at once and got a grip:  
the speaker pranced across the stage    
the listeners clapped entranced, amazed.
