Slumbering so peacefully
Laid out on wagon bed
Jolted awake suddenly
Dreams usurped by dread
By fiery pilot propelled
Away from planned itinerary
Pleaded course correction repelled
Helm deaf to location inquiry
Though fearing the relentless driver
Courage mustered to unhitch
Anger blasts the escape contriver
Comet starts to roll and pitch
Yen for freedom fuels desperate lunge
From wicked menace disconnected
Effulgent Savior halts the plunge
Direction, purpose resurrected

I love it when the Lord decides to intervene. This one was a close call. Fine work, and "effulgent" is one of my favorite words, although one I've never had occasion to use. Precision placement, my friend.

Thank you Sir Crow! I too had never used that word but for this scenario it fit perfectly. Did you get the veiled, or maybe not so veiled, reference to the Emerson adage of "hitch your wagon to a star?" I wondered if I was too obtuse.
