Precursor
Marriage was, for me, utter carnage
Like a house where no one takes out the garbage
It was just the precursor for divorce
Fighting and shouting until both are hoarse
Marriage was just a punishment from above
For being foolish enough to fall in love
Marriage for sex was such a mistake
The earth didn’t move, the ground didn’t shake
Marriage left me standing in queues
With her constantly buying handbags and shoes
Marriage was supposed to be honest
It certainly wasn’t what she had promised
Marriage made us fill the baby carriage
But never taught us how to deal with a miscarriage
Marriage was an emotional merry go round
Like a broken clock that she over wound
The odour of fighting that would nightly linger
All as a result of a ring I put on your finger
You gave me just one thing profound
You made me desire my hole in the ground
Or maybe my desire was really just for you
To find somebody else, easier to screw
Marriage was, for me, utter carnage
It’s time for me to take out the garbage
