Fighting for a Goddess

you found me shattered and alone
so much hope you give to me
take my life and take my soul
I don’t need them when they’re broke
heal me with those words you speak
you’re no demon, a god damn angel
ah body of a goddess and the mind of the world

everyone wants you
but I’m just a mortal man
I have nothing to give
only my heart
maybe with a hug I can win you over
or just a kiss to show I care
feeling like I’m looking desperate
a damn fool in front of a flawless being

you cry to me one day
“what’s wrong?”
-“I hate my life”
how can this be?
what I see as perfect
is garbage to you

my heartaches
but I can’t stop the fight
must show you
that you are so much more
going to the farthest lands
picking the rarest of flowers
sharing the most beautiful songs
flirting to warm up your core
your laughter makes me smile
how can someone so perfect want me?
how is it you don't want yourself?
I will devote my life to healing your mind
even when it destroys this mortal man

Author’s note: I don’t think I’ll be on this site as much.
Life is a bit crazy at the moment.
Not sure what I’ll do from here when it comes to poetry,
but if this is my last post I would be happy with it.
This poem is an edit of an older poem.
I always personally loved it though.
Thank you all for supporting me.
I had a wonderful time on this site.
I’ll try to post if I get any more inspiration,
but activity will slow down for me.
