Twenty Two

I looked down at the packet
Took the aluminium foil strip
Ignoring the instruction leaflet
Who gives a fuck about side affects
Cant believe a fuckin word they say
The wise old doctor says what to take
Take two, three times a day
The orange capsules look like candy
Even I know all drugs are hard candy
Even when taken as instructed
I carefully snap two into my hand
Two capsules of orangey sunshine
The foil shines, twenty two left
I consider taking another two
I consider taking twenty four
Nobody would need to know
It would be my little secret
All washed down with spiced rum
A bacon sandwich and a cigarette
Would make the act complete
I try to think of reasons not to
But my mind is positively bankrupt
But despite drawing lines in the sand
I fail miserably, lacking courage
I have the courage to eat a bacon sandwich
I have the courage to drink a spiced rum
But not enough to take more than
The instructed number of capsules
The orange smiley sunshine ones
Twenty two still to go
