Mountain Spirit

CYCLE I: EARTH

I rise above You, sacred Valley spread,
With hard admire Your fertile open curves,
And waters rushing through Your canyon led,
Such are the field and the forest served.
Perfumes increase in heat throughout Your day,
And with the night, they swirl my head in mists.
Your beauty holds, I would not look away,
Your love display that bends my will’s resist.
With thunder and with storm my rush is sent,
To add Your rushing river’s swollen flow.
Through hardest squalls, our floods do not relent,
‘Til spent and spilled and drained in lands below.
I will remain, above with rock and stone,
To service of Your Valley land alone.
