A Blaze of Glory: Poetry Edition, NaPoWriMo '17
Someone who hadn't seen me recently
asked me if I was happy.
I've withdrawn from the public
to focus more on writing.
I didn't have to think,
that if I could spend
the rest of my life working part-time
to meet just the basic needs
e.g. - housing, utilities, etc.
I would be content living
the rest of my life
reading, writing, and doing
what we're doing now.
There's such a contentment
in following your dream.
Though the world may view you
as not having anything materialistically,
it's the richest feeling in the world
to be happily at peace doing
the one thing you love.
Except
when the inadequacy of words
fail to provide a proper expression of
gratitude,
such as I have
for the poetry of my life.
~
And this is what NaPoWriMo means to me, folks. Please forgive if I'm not as active regarding commenting on your posts over the next month or so. This challenge can be somewhat gruelling at times. And, as co-host of the competition, even more so. I hope you support the participants on their individual poetic journey as our sideline cheerleaders. Sometimes people finish a challenge not because of their own strength, but because of the strength others give them through encouragement! See you at the finish line!
** Special appreciation to Johnny Blaze for *cougheditingcough*.

Not exactly a ``spiritual`` hymn of poetry
but rather a contemporary one;
versatility is key to the poetic pen
as it showcases our true & natural talents;
this piece accommodates ...
as always, your poetry fascinates me ...
~love to you, Lady ... Devlin

For an artist or a writer to partially remove themselves from public life to focus on their craft is not an easy decision to make, and even a tougher challenge to fulfil... I've battled with the idea and tried to implement the dream part-time and found it was more destructive than creative, perhaps I'm more of an all nothing type, but I figure my timing wasn't right, so I'll battle with the idea some more, and admire my peers who fearlessly pursue their passion.
All the best with the writing challenge, Ahavati. I'm afraid one poem per week is my creative limit, so I'll sit it out and cheer the more prolific poets from the sideline.

I dunno what to say about that, Case. I've worked my a-double-s off all my life, and never imagined I'd be where I am now. But (and I dont want to sound like Rose on the Titanic) but it became the same old people shoot after party after shoot after party after shoot. Same old people same old clubs same old conversation different evening. Plug a few words with a different event name and its basically the same-same.
The higher echelon is like that. With a few rare exceptions that kept to themselves in the corner with their scotch or crown wishing they were home reading or doing something they loved. That I, as a migrating, peripheral photographer would get to have a refreshingly intelligent 5 minute conversation with to remind me of the sanity of reason and purpose of existence. Until intertupted by two women who hated each other secretly but wanted their photo together for appearance's sake. And that's the key word, appearances. Except for me there was no boat to jump from or propellers to look at or Leonardo DiCaprio to...but I digress.
There was only the manifestation of a dream by filling in the grid with daily belief, until somehow it began coming to pass. And with that came stronger belief. And with that came more coming to pass until I found myself in a cycle of doutlessness amid pure belief in the manifestation of dreams. I see it all moving into place like a gravitational cycle of rotation in its appointed time.
I understand what you speak of. The same happened to me when I wore a younger woman's dreams. It's called being buffeted by the world. But, it's also what you called forth to experience as the contrast of what you desire, that you recognize and appreciate it.
The old saying anything worth having is worth fighting for is true. Nothing worthwhile is easy. It's damn hard swimming against the current. Too many times we almost drown and pull our self out of the current to catch our breath on the bank. And sometimes we give up and take time for granted that we have enough to try again.
But if you at least believe, and don't lose faith, when you least expect it, a catalyst from your soul tribe will appear to jumpstart your stalled complacency, and you'll feel warp speed engage on a course you certainly haven't been before, but have always dreamed you would be one day.
And this person will show you what it means to live freely irrespective of what others think and/or believe about you, by not just showing you the direction of your dreams, but by actually experiencing them with you. Because, you see, it's their dream too: poetry.
They'll be one of, if not THE best friend you've ever had. And the answer to a million prayers.
So, Case, now that you know how your story is gonna end, you got some work to do. Cheers! 🍷

Well you can thank Johnny, because he literally took thoughts I expressed and arranged it into poetry. Again. And I'll never get used to this weirdness of seeing a portion of a conversation as poetry. But I'm happy you like it, my friend.

Re. A Blaze of Glory: Poetry Edition, NaPoWriMo '17
follow the dreams..the inner spark..the soul's ever hymning humming verse....i know what you say the cut-off from the worldly vibes, when the wordistic art takes over ..its difficult in the balancing , but the larger contenment.. you say them perfect ..
the wordlessness that point of thankfulness..in ur. words ..yeah, true dear
"Except
when the inadequacy of words
fail to provide a proper expression of
gratitude,
such as I have
for the poetry of my life. "
do write on shine , this month n furthermore. light n luv xx.
