A Blaze of Glory: Poetry Edition, NaPoWriMo '17

Someone who hadn't seen me recently
asked me if I was happy.

I've withdrawn from the public
to focus more on writing.

I didn't have to think,
that if I could spend
the rest of my life working part-time
to meet just the basic needs
e.g. - housing, utilities, etc.
I would be content living
the rest of my life
reading, writing, and doing
what we're doing now.

There's such a contentment
in following your dream.

Though the world may view you
as not having anything materialistically,
it's the richest feeling in the world
to be happily at peace doing
the one thing you love.

Except
when the inadequacy of words
fail to provide a proper expression of

gratitude,
such as I have
for the poetry of my life.
~

And this is what NaPoWriMo means to me, folks. Please forgive if I'm not as active regarding commenting on your posts over the next month or so. This challenge can be somewhat gruelling at times. And, as co-host of the competition, even more so. I hope you support the participants on their individual poetic journey as our sideline cheerleaders. Sometimes people finish a challenge not because of their own strength, but because of the strength others give them through encouragement! See you at the finish line!

** Special appreciation to Johnny Blaze for *cougheditingcough*.
