High in his Tower

There's a line being drawn,
Talk of a wall being built,
This country is at the dawn,
Of an era of guilt,
So much has gone wrong,
So much hatred still,
As we sift through ashes and silt,
Of a history of blood that was spilt,
Wars that were fought for men on a hill,
Collecting their pensions,
While the media displays all the tensions,
And we drink it up,
Like poisoned milk from a cup,
We've become drunk on the thrill,
Of prideful division,
Sacred lands being drilled,
But we dare not question their decisions,
Our water runs red,
Full of toxins and led,
But we give into fear,
And we hurt one another,
Their plans become clear,
To pit brother against brother,
Until the world's population,
Can fit in their pockets,
It's a frightening observation,
Enough to make your eyes spin in their sockets,
Mr. President watches from his tower,
High on the fumes of money and power,
He's marked my neighbors as subhuman scum,
He's agitated the ignorant and handed them guns,
He laughed at our heroes,
And made fun of the press,
He says he can take any number and add a few zeros,
And that will make up for the fact that he's clueless,
He wants to take away the rights of my daughter's,
While sending my son's off to be slaughtered,
He's profiling the children walking to school,
Afraid they may educate themselves and rewrite the rules,
He wants to send all the bad men away,
I think he should start in the house where he stays,
My mind grows heavy with all that I know,
But I have faith in the children as I watch them grow,
Some day they'll look back,
And sigh as they tell,
Of the dark days that passed,
When the world turned to hell,
And their children will laugh at the face of this leader,
And say how he looks like a bright orange cheeto.
