Keep It 100
"I'm like royalty around y'all"
That kinda thinking led me to most of my downfalls
Arrogant and disparaging thoughts, a proud heart
The spirit I had, the moment I saw my crown fall
Took me a while to admit it, but I know I'm flawed
I know my 99 problems; yeah I know I'm soft
Especially with the honey browns that often come around
That turn a lone range wolf into a puppy now
A lost puppy, with the heart of a wolf
So when I'm starting to look for one who's got part of the looks
And who's got part of the brains (I mean apart from the books)
When I get her, it never lasts as long as it should
Coz sooner or later, reality kicks in
Tension creeps in and rips through this sheepish skin
Covered cracks reopen to show the wolf beneath this skin
And it starts to crumble, soon it's 'bout to meet its end
So from "walk in the park" to "lost deep in the jungle"
Because of those mistakes that always leave me in trouble
Would be avoidable really, if I'd stop feeling like a Prince and just be keeping it humble
And just keep it 100
Which makes me royalty around guys
When you grow coz you've noticed the truth around lies
That's the point when know that your crew'll downsize
But that comes with the territory, that's the downside
But it's not a downside, it's a beautiful loss
A smaller circle can supply much more than you could've lost
To help you leave juvenile thoughts and ludicrous talk
That usual lot, that seem like they're immovable rocks
Coz it's one thing to know what the right thing to do is
But it's a different ball game when you've actually gotta do it
That's how "mistakes" are born, and you end up looking stupid
Coz you couldn't find that spur to spark a bit of movement
But now you need that aggression, a desire to learn
You need the eye of the tiger or worse
For the fire to burn, it ain't about just writing a verse
You've gotta get your brain rewired to work
Yeah writing this verse fuels my desire to work; so that the fire can burn
Don't mind me, I'm just keeping it 100
