Prometheus Bound

Chained to Mount Caucasus, my mount of grief,
the damn eagle keeps pecking my liver
Thanked by the mortals, known as the giver
of fire, though Zeus just calls me a thief.

I stole the fire, gave it back to earth
To help them survive as they had before
Glad I gave it back even though I’m sore
My only regret is Pandora’s birth

Because of what I did, he had her made
had Hephaestus create her our of clay
Pandora would open the box one day,
misfortune for fire, that was the trade.

As my liver regrows up on this slope
The evils roam the earth, but never hope
