Ominous scenery depicted!!!
A wealth of messages mixed in here, Many disturbing-such is the power of symbolism.
This certainly isn't rice paper!!!

Incredible piece, Vee
"Suddenly, I hear the cry of every newborn
Descend from the womb
Burdened by
Vows of silence" Powerful writing.

The parallels of Paul's crucification and how we're born upside down, head first were a moment of enlightment for me and i had to capture it in a poem, thank you for appreciating it Anon.

Rina, the iconography in this piece is intriguing. My favorite passage is this:
"Her third eye blooming with love:
Serenity, wisdom, humility
Needlework, tea and rosary
Await"
This passage conjures for me the image of a mystical, sagacious old women so prevalent in Latino and American Indian cultures. It makes me recall the mysticism of "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Bravisima ma amie!

That's a great book with a profound writer that has put out many great thoughtful subjects. She certainly is a unique character, very cheerful, warm and one can't but be mesmerized at her passion, i certainly was right from the beginning and honestly it didn't matter if she was reading ingredients from a can of soup, it was her delivery that made the most difference. Thank you so much GW for appreciating this poem.

Re: Re. Penance
Your comment made me smile Mourganna knowing how much your appreciate symbolism and mysticism. Thank you :) I for one been somewhat of an agnostic who believes that there's entity higher and larger than all of us. And i truly believe that timing is everything, we can sit somewhere for years but never see or hear but suddenly one day the mind opens and we are ready to absorb, it was one of those moments with this wonderful lady who i was fortunate to meet.

I do love bleeding ink Vee. All bleeding ink. Though most is purely emotion, not thought. That's why I like it. But you're a weaver girl. Intelligent bleeding. Fan of your work Miss V.

I can delve deep here with the multiple layers...Peter not deemed worthy of the same fate as Jesus requested to be crucified upside-down.

It was quite fascinating, and i guess we can always find any analogy, lesson, metaphor in anything but i guess the parallels laid down to humility and also reading further into the topic the notion that we're born upside down to rise upward and 'see' the light. yeah quite deep i'd say lol

Alas, I was born breech and came into the world arse first. I've been awkward ever since lol
Beautiful writing made poignant by the images it holds. The parallels between the reverse execution and the human experience is quite the thinker. Thank you for the read.

'I am a little church (no great cathedral)'
she knows, as Cummings did, her cottage is a house of the holy;
I'm sensing her holy water font & votive candle...

(not) 'nough's already said by the respected poets above Rina! depth is simply spellbinding. Not surprising at all for who has delivered it.

My Friend...the melding of the metaphoric, and the symbolic, defines the multi-dimensional aspects of this piece...and as always, your imagery is so intriguing and creatively crafted.
The title, and your entire poem trigger memories for me. i appreciate your parallels of Peter's crucifixtion and birth. i had never thought about this concept, but your comparison has definitely offered me a new perspective to consider.
This one is inked with insight!

Re: Re. Penance
Dear Enchantress, i'm honored that you found this piece thought provoking, your comments are always greatly appreciated. This piece was stemmed from a true event which i had shared with a few close friends and i'll share it here publicly within my reply to you. Few months ago i was employed as personal assisstant to a very wealthy older lady to take care of her business and personal affairs and every morning when i went to work she'd be sitting in her private room reading the bible surrouded by many artifacts and i was subjected to listen to her read excerpts, sharing and explaining which fell on deaf ears as its been for me many years of sunday school and private parochial schooling. But she was so animated, her excitement and embracement of every knowledge she explored that i found it to be fascinating more than what she was reading but one day she exclaimed about peter and i woke up lol.
I had this vision of how we are born upside down and the parallels of humility and what our soul knows all along breaking vows of silence...
I went home and did some research, and that's how this poem was born.

This part really floored me.
"Her third eye blooming with love:
Serenity, wisdom, humility
Needlework, tea and rosary
Await
Mother Mary and naked baby Jesus
In her arms." When message, cadence and syntax are all in harmony, it blooms wonderfully in the mind and the soul.
The comparison between apostle Peter and birth was astonishing in how it struck me lol. Great work.
