[ SK ] Departures and Arrivals

  
Time has a one track mind
    
and a schedule to keep  
regardless of who we are  
---casts us aside as if so many   
wedding rings, Timex watches  
and other personal things  
we insist we can't exist without  
and demand to be buried with  
   
yet still leave behind  
   
Memories are the real treasures  we acquire
 --- measures of touch, sound, smell, taste  
more often than not overlooked by those  
consuming blurred moments framed in haste  
in their coveting of some nebulous  
life altering event looming ahead
on the horizon    
   
blind to everything else
