Storm

You see the lightning flash outside your window
And you wait for thunders boom
But you can’t tell if it’s outside or on the door to your small room

God’s bowling or man’s bawling it’s the same noise outside or on your tight locked door
It’s just another springtime storm but it’s driving you insane
And you wonder if your raincoat will protect you in your tiny bungalow

Thunder banging and glass breaking
As the storm reaches its peak
And you hope it breaks and moves on soon you’re tired of hiding
From the rain or spittle flying from his mouth

So many storms and the season doesn’t seem to matter
Though most times they rage only inside the corner house
And their fury usually flung at you though innocent you may be

So you wait inside your little room for the storm to pass
For you know that it will go to the bar just down the street
Just to load itself with stormclouds and with thunder

And you know that eventually the storm will break down any little door
And with anger at himself he will beat you down to death
And then shake with fear the storm has broken scared of what he’s done

But with the chance he’d do it all again
