A People Pleaser

All around me
Are whispered words...
Do they think
They go
Unnoticed?
I walk down
These winding paths
Trying
Desperately
To assemble
MY
Life's task...
I
Both lose and find
Myself
In the person
They
See
-Someone resembling something else

Responsibility
Becomes me
For their baggage
Mustn't be
Easy to carry...
With outstretched
Arms
And partially opened
Palms
I aim to reach
Farther than my grasp
To aid
In another's task...
Because what is life
Without the hope
Of coexistence
Despite the distance
Between fences...

Their yard
Is
Not
My
Yard...
But their world
Is mine
As well...
And that
Is enough...
For one day
They may see
A neighbor
In need of aide
And remember
The people pleaser
They once knew
And lend
An outstretched hand
To someone
Or something
New to them...
