The New Laura
Laura no longer thrilled him
Her slowly nagging him to death
For being loaded 'round the clock
She can't seem to comprehend
A man has his needs
A woman who will serve him well
Dinner hot when he gets home
A lover who doesn't lie there
Stoic until he finally comes
Laura, he decides, seems better dead
The pillow pressed hard to her face
Before he dumps her on the bedroom floor
Staring as he just slips out the door
He finds closure as he starts the car
Then heads down to the local dive
Just keep the Cuervo coming
The blurred hottie on an adjacent stool
Breaths "Laura" when he asks her name
He just can't believe his ears
But feels the gun barrel on his balls
She fires and watches him convulse
And says "You should have checked my pulse..."

Hard as I try, I can't seem to resist a story format. I just hope it makes sense. Thank you!

It is a great name, but any resemblance to the film is purely coincidental. The movie was a class act as I recall. This, well.... Thank you!

I actually shocked myself when I wrote this. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of crowflys? The Shadow may or may not. Thanks sweet Lady Taryn!

The all too real and sad topic of men killing woman and domestic violence is still far to often ignored by our culture. Your poem said what needs to be said. Maybe someone out there will read "The New Laura" and realize they no longer have to remain a victim.

In my experience there's nothing uglier than an abusive man. I believe in turning the tables, maybe stopping short of a Magnum but mostly whatever else it takes. Thank you buddhakitty! .

I'm so glad you enjoyed it Flower. You're such a tender soul in your writes that I feared it wouldn't be to your taste. Thank you!
