Digitalis ( Foxglove )

Statuesque and handsome, flowering
in shade wild with crab and ragwort
tempting as of ages, past legends
steeped in belief,
Do I resist or  embrace
and kiss those purple lips,
seeking  nectar as the bee.
Digitalis your name
deep within your folds
purple freckles innocent
in that pouting mouth
bathe in the dangerous air,
unheed  maternal warnings
drink those sweet intoxicants
to calm the racing heart,
Bless Old Mother Hutton
and indulge 'til, death
dispersed,to sleep as
thousand others?
