Image for the poem Descent

Descent

I clearly saw the fog descending on the city
Depositing a film of condensation, like pity
Dripping from the awning, her tears drew rivers
Cleansing the morning of the sun's rising slivers
Forming a path towards the past she can't escape
Forgotten in words, drawn without shape
The sky grew blue behind the gray phantom
Clarity blew the mind of the blue-eyed one at random
Precisely when ordered in a timely fashion
Expectations demanded she dressed well for passion
Though she never expected his figure to float
Surrounding her flesh with the words that he wrote
His verse carried waves rolling patterns in wet sand
The dew covered beach lost the battle for dry land
