Poetic Mask
behind the words
in between lines
is it the real you
smiling so fakely
beautifully displayed
your ink tells all
truth is in empty eyes
glimmer of hope
is all but long gone
portraying strength
coated with tears
barely existing within
tell me broken soul
are you trying to fool
you or the rest of us
is the soul beneath
your poetic mask
still silently crying

Re. Poetic Mask
Wonderful poetry, my friend, flower. You do know how to capture the essence of what is important to say, and you have captured it very well within the lines of this very well-written poem. Enjoyed.

Beautiful Sun Kissed, a beautifully written sentiment which I'm sure many can relate to and would appreciate. Your heart knows no boundaries...always looking out for both the souls you know and don't know through your ink...love can clearly be felt with each line...well done! With love - Sweet S xo :)

You paint a beautiful portrait of the pain that is often hidden between the lines...
Sad words, but unfortunately true for many...

A melancholy but lovely write, Flower. This has a different structure than your usual work with shorter lines, and it works well. The mask is a perfect metaphor. Fine work!

You express your opinions artfully here. Interesting departure from your more romantic themes.

The one place where poets must embrace honesty is within their verse. A mask may as well be a wall that divides us all. We must not use poetry as a tool of untruths but as a ship to transport the truth within our hearts into the souls of others! A great write my purple friend!!!

"is the soul beneath
your poetic mask
still silently crying?" - erm,...... Yes!
this, in a sense, is different from what I expect from you, yet it is still on a par with your other wonderful poetry. This is excellent ink and such an easy add :-)

There is a little of ourselves in every poem we write. We only reveal what we want.

Ha, love this write. Poetry can mask many things. If we saw perhaps how some of our fellow poets really exist in the real world, we might be a little disappointed, lol. Thoughts & feelings magnified, concise, exaggerated, time to think, time to be creative. Put some of these guys on the spot & they may well be reduced to quivering wrecks, right? Gone in an instant, those smooth lines, that cool suave exterior. I love this poem Flower, as it attempts perhaps to strip the wood bare, or is it simply peel away that very thin veneer. Great poem, full of intrigue. ;-)
