[ SK ] Lightning In A Bottle
Halleluuuuujah!
Here's what I'm gonna do for ya :
take away the chronic pain---
remove the tumor from
that distressed brain of yours
Rise up and walk again!
Friend, this is only the beginning
Only thing more beneficial to the soul
than rock n roll in this godless world is
sinning
Yeah! Glory be to the King!
And if you can spare a few dollars
I've got the cure for your ailing
Pass that collection plate around
Onward Christian Soldier march;
follow me to the Higher Ground

Bottled lightning

surging through you and me

Commenting Preference:
The author encourages honest critique.
First, the mockery in this is palpable. You've captured the resentment. Your language mimics King's in its simplicity to convey deep emotion. It's something I strive for personally, although I do love and am always enamoured by expanded vocabulary used originally (vs the attack of the thesaurus so aptly seen in amatuer writers, although we all have to learn).
One of the quotes from that book, "Home is where they want you to stay longer" (vs where the heart is), has always haunted me for its double-entendre meaning. I mention it here only because this poem seems to contain that double-bladed meaning of those who love you never wanting to leave (as in house of God) contrasted with an element of suffocation in not releasing you. This pom holds both the mockery of something that can't let go in addition to the obsession of holding on and not letting go. As if walking through it is the only way to truth.
That God himself is alterable lightening in the hands those He created through science. The references to Shelley and Frankenstein (in addition to the pointers to his own works), bear such an emphasis on the underlying thesis of recreation through the ever-evolving, truth expanding science because religion (at that point) holds no solace for pain, nor hope for change.
They say love is madness, even unto and after death. The search and subsequent pursuit of it is so evident in the book and weaves throughout this poem in the form of discovered hope, that I'm unsure anyone who hasn't read the book would understand despite the following excerpt from one of your stanzas:
Can't wait to be reunited with
long lost loved ones again
No, I don't think I can wait
Who among us hasn't discovered that pity for someone (maybe even ourselves) who lost faith through loss and the ensuing madness which followed as an obsessive pursuit for a truth that left us lonelier than ever: Love.
This is about belief, both his and the faith if others in him that is unstoppable, even unto those who attempt.

I found Revival to be one of King's most haunting novels ever. It had such an unexpected ending that made Pet Semetary look like a carboard box full of kittens.
If I could sing worth a damn, I would give this one a go. But I have a voice like the love child of PeeWee Herman and Demi Moore.
Singing it in my mind as the antagonist ( if you can call him that; he's so misguided ) was the best way to tap into the emotion needed. He's human; certainly not an asshat like Randall Flagg, who I channeled to sing as Captain Trips.
