her sisters sent her messages suddenly
out of the blue,
wanting to come and visit
wanting to plan,
catching up on birthday celebrations,
she hasn't celebrated anything in so long
she doesn't even think about it
she's not even sure she'll
live that long,
was her first thought,

could have come from

I've never been good at remembering the birthdays of my family and I usually try to forget mine. They stopped being happy a long, long time ago. Sometimes sudden changes come as a result of something in their lives happening suddenly. Since my stroke 5 years ago, I have been much more aware of my own mortality and wanting to heal old family wounds. People question my motives and all I can say in response is that I have a different perspective now. I know I have less years ahead of me, probably only 15-20 more to live considering my own health issues and the age of relatives when they died. Life has a way of changing what's important...

Thank You so much JJ for the read and thoughtful comments ... in my family, you don't forget, or you never hear the end of it ...lol, I've never put so much focus on things, I think we should celebrate everyday, it may be all we have. That's how I try to live, not that that is always easy. I wish you many happy years ahead ! 😊 JeJe

I only celebrate un-birthdays - true birthdays just remind you that you are one year closer to death :-)

Where indeed? Ms. Jemac you have a knack for writing ideas and thoughts with which I closely identify. I'll admit to feeling that hopeless at times. Having just read your "¿" piece I am struck by how difficult it is to achieve inner peace. Brava!
