thief of scarlet kisses

the rain comes today & the tears tomorrow
I am your lover & I am your sorrow

I told her, in time she’ll get sick of being on her knees for a man.
she said she draws her ecstasy from the position of kahira,
though her sisters would condemn her for it.

she adamantly supports the cause of womanhood, but as a rebel
in the chambers of her passion, she’s grateful that heretics are no
longer burned at an altar of kindling.

she loves in the only way she can, with all of herself. her heart
comes as tall & naked as her sensual body, & she claims to know
my heart better than I do.

we’ve argued about it. I’ve admitted to her that all my experiences
have been with whores, & I can only join with a woman if I treat her
like a whore. when the angry mercenary in me takes the place of the
half-armored knight, I’ve abused & humiliated her like a whore, with
the roiling dispatches of my lust.

she opens the corridors of her immoral temple, whichever I desire.
the bells chime & the wind blows like a doom metal symphony,  &
she becomes a beautiful tragedy.

I’ve never looked for love, it’s always been strictly the sex,
even if a woman won’t separate her heart from her yearning flesh.
and you can cast aspersions as well as stones  –
as long as you’ve got no sins of your own.

maker of love & bringer of sorrow
kiss me today & forget me tomorrow…
