Raven's Shade

you don't know me
& never will

I clothe myself
with raven feathers
nighttime covers
to keep out prying eyes

the ones that would consume
my gentle soul
taint my blood
with their hate
twist the knife deeper
creating a gnawing ache called pain

guilt riddled holes
are puss filled wounds
in the darkness I reside
where evil, the decrepit
are common place
shaded by my realm

see my face fade to black
cloaked in the shadows
sleeping with the demons I know

you sipped my flavor once
when I was naive
that was once upon a time
when I was ruled by paranoia
you took a slice of me

I vowed to all hell
it would never happen again
this is now my domain
if you step to me
remember you're stepping to a Queen
