BADLANDS DESERT SUNRISE (3-25-1989, at the 'Oh My God' hot springs in California's Anza Borrego Desert Badlands)
the eastern range
spread skyward
awash ablaze aflame
with airbrushed fires
of rising suns
molten rays
painting daybreak
orange pink
purple and blue
riding intensely
up into and against
the waking bottoms
of drifting clouds
stretched out
over this desert
north to south
like migrating
myths and legends
of ancient gods
called off to war
marching forth
to future storms
with tridents raised
and long hair flowing
on horseback at dawn
galloping on
full charge and
splashing through
flank deep waters
of surging
electric sky morning
while off in
the paler southwest
a smoke blue
whale sails abreast
as it slowly
unfurls dissolving
into twisting purple
twin chinese dragons
high above
the crooked crest
of a still
sleeping
indigo mountain
not yet reached
by the life
giving warmth
of rising suns
sacred golden
gilded touch
to render it
newly reborn
with each
and every
recyclic dawn
of awakened
new day soon
to come
oh wow
ahh yes
now
here
at last
has come
full hoop
full circle
to open
unfold
and
flowingly
paint itself
out
in this
new day
again
