Justification in the name of 'good' when good has lost its meaning and value in self preservation and actualization.  Most often the drive for sterilization shifts the balance and sadly, we are living in those times.  When will they see that in solving problems they have become the problem themselves!

dear bro Soul, freedom is one of the most Fuc$$%d words ever in my opinion.  

This is not only an abstract but also a totally non-existent entity. To me it is just akin to another unit of measurement like we measure intensity of light in Lumens or weight in Kilograms, has anyone seen what actually a Kilogram looks like without any physical matter to show itself in with?   
      
Nothing exists in universe without laws. Even where humans do not exist the laws do. The so called laws of gravity, energy and so on.   
      
Tell me where on Earth does absolute freedom exist? Or show me a place it can? It is all Fu%%ing relative. Even mother nature has her laws, to some they may be brutal but they are what they are. Simple as that.   
      
We cherish the relative freedoms we have whenever we come across them. To ask for absolute freedom is akin to asking for immortality. You can't have it for it simply does not exist.   
      
Art is never chaste, an old saying. Being offensive is one thing, being criminal is another. At the end of the day, no one likes the beholder of the law/rules, it is a job not to please people but to protect them from themselves. Not saying living in a nanny state is the solution, keeping some sorta feeblest of order is in the end necessity both legal and ethical if not moral.   
      
So those who cry freedom, unless they have a perfect reason to cry injustice without full disclosure of their own human faults is simply, to me akin to " patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel". Freedom of speech is not freedom to kill someone with words.   

Hey there KD, Indeed I agree laws ARE laws...but when they become muddled and abused-thats where it becomes gray-issue. The original thread and this one-in no way shape or form...had anything to do or say about the Nemo problem. This was more about dis-regard and boot-stomping on something that doesn't fit others cres or worth of attention. To misuse power-privilege by skirting issue or question simply out of ego is pretty sad To hawk others posts and demand title changes out of vanity and ego is below what i think is mod behaviour. Not to mention the effect it has on the artists who used a universal blanket-name that has been around for centuries. I care of this community and i know You do as well. There is a lot of history in this place that You have missed. I don't mean that derogatory to You as a member, only that jack-boot wisdom is not something i am a fan of ...or wish to see here. Guidelines are fine and necessary...but it IS a two-way street!!!

As they say, to know a religion- read the books, not look at the people for people are not perfect. Same applies here, the guidelines are there and well intended no disputing that, how well they are adhered to by past, present or future mods is perfectly questionable as you have done so here. I wouldn't assume the reason for shooting down established threads as matters of ego- but would definitely question and disagree with in the strongest possible manner. I have in recent past said to one of our friends here, how I despise power and keep self away from taking on any position of power for I have seen many a decent persons turn upside down, lost many a friends for the same reason, it got to them or they abused it. It is not easy to handle for many yet there are some gems few saint-like humans who do manage to keep it with grace. yes I do not know the history before my arrival, but have learned from few of our friends here and all do say it has gotten better with time. Whatever is happening is , I believe for the better as this would only serve as a lesson in improvement of the site, both for mods and members re respect for sensibilities and reminding each other's limitations. Nothing is limitless, neither power nor freedom.  I sir, was not here to honk any jack-boot wisdom, simply expressed my mind and loved you doing the same. Much respect! KDAmB

I'm all for freedoms in every sense of the word, but when freedom is used to intentionally cause harm to another person, that's when "censorship" in the form of corrective action needs to happen .  

No one was stifled from accessing their art--banned members can still log in, still read their own writes, just like we can and even non members who come browsing . You can even screen shot it copy/paste works to save them, regardless of user or function status, so the cries of being locked out of one's own work are unfounded. They can get at their stuff, just not post additional.

I'll close with a mention about judging others as it relates to this topic: don't do it unless you have the full story. There's usually more than the public is aware of, such as an entire conversation I have stored on Facebook, with one of the so called censored members, where in between my trying to reason with the individual regarding their actions here, I have an admission from them, that they were never here to play nice, and came purposefully for ill intent and to cause harm and upheaval.

Sorry --"freedom" takes a backseat with people like that, in an effort to preserve and protect the rest of us.

peddling mis-information(well these days AKA Fake News) is far easier under the banner of freedom of speech. Non-disclosure of one's contribution to the cause and effect is no better than peddling lies. Well Said Madame. And as to the hurt caused to many of our fellow artists (who by nature are invariably more sensitive than the general population), it is understandable for indeed true art cannot exist/thrive without freedom and there we go again...a serpent biting it's tail...the balance between freedom and responsibility!

 My original thread was about censorship and abuse of  station. Simply shutting down another members question and not wanting to answer them, in essence treating them as in-effectual and throw-away.  
Whereas I was instantly addressed (I am proud to be known in the community, but being acknowledged and answered directly while another member is not...sits very ill to my stomach.

 Not once- since You have set foot in DU have You darkened my door and left a comment to any of the posts on my personal page. Were it under different circumstances I might've actually been pleasantly surprised. This turned out to be a sad event instead. You should have simply left Your reply on the thread...It may be hidden away behind door #2... but I can see it. But You came here first and the thread second.

 Had I the ABILITY to use my block button against a mod it would be pushed this minute.    

Now this subject that keeps getting brought up about trolls- ie: Johnny, Gabriel, Nemo whoever else ...I am not a fan of troll activity.  I DO NOT condone it and those that get punished for it...nine times out ten deserve it.  yet in one instance someone is labeled a troll and smacked for it while another is praised and cheered on or encouraged for their help on a debate thread.  

It also seems in this day and age on DU that multiple Id's are encouraged-(again i spoke a little of this in this particular post) But some can and do exploit the fringes of this troll label by use of multiple id therefore not getting smacked for it.  

This is a double-standard that loses any weight given to troll banishment under eye and ideal of a mod. You comment to the community to tell us of Gabriel, Nemo (where I had made NO mention of these folks) for protection of us...(a double standard-side mouth comment) and yet here You are in someones profile (trolling)  

You have used systematic censorship; going into someones profile when they express any issue.

 Again I say abuse of station because it attacks Your ideal and ego -You've never commented here -keep it to the thread . We as a community have seen You single out members time and time again with this method...based on ego. I may not be able to ban YOU from my page...but I will ask politely, not to knock on my door.
