Love is a
wonderful perfume
Heady and suggestive Uplifting
you to new levels of experience
Sweet and sensual And playful at times
It is also a comforting smell Bringing the
bouquet of nostalgia To envelope with security and safety.
Love also smells of excitement Of oranges and lemons
boasting brightness Of cinnamon, nutmeg,
pepper And other things to spice up your life.
It can also be bitter, smelling foul on
occasion. But such sensations
pass In the winds of time
To usher in fresh spring
scents And breathe new life
Odours for adore, evermore

A pity then,
that I have no sense of smell.

I love the images conjured by the spices in a metaphorical way they are perfect in describing the zest, flavor and aroma of love..

Speaking of images the poem was meant to be formed into an image of a plant with leaves, or a plant shape in a pot, but formatting jiggery-pokery has meant it is not shaped so, at least not in physical form. Good to see the spices still made it.

I hope You know LV ...despite my silliness at times and ribbing nature. There's a grin attatched. I've enjoyed Your terse tongue through the years here. You back up Your thought with intelligence . Point being- no matter how I may come across- or lip of snark - there's respect and care along with it. Again- Good stuff- just wish You posted more on Your page more often. but...fine-wine and all that-Cheers

well, m'lord, you should stick to coffee then...if the fragrance doesn't, the taste will wake you up, at least. who knows you might even learn to smell the roses afterwards.

Coffee on the rare moments I have had it have been bitter and forcefully energising. I much prefer the earthy smell and flavours of tea. Even then a person, or in this case, man, can be passionate about coffee or tea, but cannot make passion to it!

The form is a little jumbled in a bid to make it paint a picture of a plant on the page. However the plant idea seems to have wilted in transfer, though it'll stay like this until I manage to change it to plant shape or rewrite the whole thing. I do try to touch the hearts and minds of others and be a little bit sweet, after all that attracts the butterflies with their pleasant replies.

Perhaps you only know it as a heady incense full of rapture and smell. Or maybe you know it more as a citrus fruit: sour yet somehow good and addictive.
