Image for the poem charcoal melancholy

charcoal melancholy

he came to me
when my tempest storm raged
as my madness peaked

*

he crossed the oceans
to touch my soul
he distracted me from the voices
that howled in my mind

*

with a quiet storm all his own
he entered me
with poetry on his lips
a guitar riff in his spirit

*

his art was my muse
his masculinity the fire
from which I dined

*

I ate his charcoal melancholy
fed his beautiful arrogance
he tempered my shyness

*

he entered my watercolor days
with his bold oils

*

& we mixed
gave birth to poetic sunsets
with our lust

*

he came to me
put to death my lonely days
