Passive Being

Time declared war against you
deep into the night when you were
off guard, deaf, not listening-
It swore to never stop until your timely demise.
awake from deep slumber,
you heard whisperings and rumors,
you saw signs of its manifestation right after;
in people, in the news,
in your blood and in your thoughts
which came in the form of incurable infection

(What did you do then?)
You gave into fear- fear for what
failure might cost you
(heavy indeed is the price of failure)
if perchance you tried to stand on your right
and your mind, as at then paralyzed,
came unhinged one faithless night

(What do you do now?)
You do nothing but shut your eyes
and hope the rumors were started by liars, you hope the signs were illusions of grandeur and you passionately hope you are schizophrenic so as to dismiss the evidence you see before you
(evidence of war, not of peace)

At the same time, you secretly gaze at truths
like stars sprinkled across a
moonless sky
with lies blanketing them beyond
the endless darkness of the cloudless sky
