Stillness & Spirit

One thing that can often go missing

Is long walks for no reason other than walking

Is water, is ice

Is trees creaking from the weight of the wind

Is crystals, is candles, is incense

  quietly singing

  lighting a room

  filling the air with spice



One thing that can often go missing

Is a sense of wonder

Is reflection

Is scribbling out the reasons why

  and what

  and where



One thing that can often go missing

One thing I do neglect

Is spirit

And when I reconnect

  with this part of life

I can feel its long absence

  laid out behind me

I can feel a space I

  didn't know was empty

     become whole



I live in a secular, to-do oriented world

  and am reminded with each time I

  get in touch with this

  that it does not take more time away

  but adds a whole other dimension

     to the calendars

     to the lists

     to my ticking watch

  a stillness
