Makes me look at my cracks from a different angle.  The cracks are inevitable, and one's ability to withstand and learn from them leads to a form of enlightenment.  And if one can learn to deal with any associated pain, all the better.  It's part of this crowfly's aging process.  You've crystalized my thoughts along these lines in a wonderful poem.  Thanks Duende!

Duende, this is absolutely beautiful. I am glad you found someone like this in your life. Amazing and truly breathtaking. I love it. Also reminds me of this quote (that I love) by Ernest Hemingway. "We are all broken, that's how the light gets in."

There are more quotes in the same line (Leonard Cohen, Rumi) but I decided to give my own twist to it! It's not written for a special someone... I think we all need a reaching hand sometimes (at least I do) so I felt the need to write about it...

Duende, I get what you mean. It sounds like a very specific person (you make it all sound so real). I know that we can all use a person like that to have (I know that I need someone like that too). Amazing piece.

i read this earlier & had to step away to let it simmer & settle, so many immediate thoughts stirred at first glance...
... the first few lines reminded me a bit of rammstein's stripped [don't mind me, i'm weird like that ltm]
your coda touched on one of my favorite rumi quotes
& then the betweens, the betweens were akin to kintsugi...

this is so beautifully written and I have tried to read it with better eyes than I normally use. I am not sure if the taking of the hand is metaphorically meant as after the first stanza it seems to become about self help. It would be interesting to see a similar poem if you were dealing with a person with no or negative motivations :-)

these are just personal observations and in no way detract from the beauty and excellence of the piece :-)

Personal observations are always welcome and I must admit that this poem was a bit confusing for myself as well... the words went their own way! I think in this one I spoke to myself... sometimes I need someone to reach out, but because I don't have that someone in my life I envisioned what that someone would say to me, or... what I need to hear!

I know that probably doesn't make sense, but because I know a lot of people need a reaching hand, I decided to post it despite having some doubts!

Wow! It seems you never write a bad poem Duende. Simplistic in nature yet your poems are so powerful in the way you put the words together. From what I have read so far, these works could quite easily be put to music because they have a certain rhythm.
