A glimpse in their eyes

Have you ever met one of those people who just made you sick?
Their happy mood annoying as you wonder why they're so optimistic
Seeing them smile and feeling their morning glow
While you walk around seeming groggy and slow
Walking by, you see a glimpse of pain in their eyes
It hits you as you realize their hands are invisibly tied
They've got secrets to be revealed,
They've got bad wounds that need to be healed,
They're fighting through life with the sword of happiness they yield,
Protecting themselves with a metaphorical shield.
Knowing one day they'll have to open up to the world
And stop going to the bathroom where they've purposely hurled.
Knowing they'll have to let someone into their life
And put the emotional wall down for a husband or wife.
Knowing they cannot be perfect all of the time
And take the sweet with the sour, like a lemon or lime.
You see their whole life has been full of lies
You see their secrets, with a glimpse in their eyes.
