Raining Blood

Wine and sangria fill the sky
Plagued by slow death and immense decay
Falling down upon resilient soldiers
Coating the earth in a layer of thick garnet day- to- day

In preference to rain drops plummeting
And providing showers that cleanse
With a blade’s edge, warriors are stripped of life
A mere casualty through war’s lens

Bodies derelict, left to deteriorate throughout the night
In agonized misery, they lay in waiting of rigor mortis
Souls mingling with the gray area of the afterlife
Leaving behind not taciturn but lifeless corpses

Blades collide, slice flesh, and meet bone
As skirmishes take place around the vanguard
One side is destined to gain the victory
But rich crimson continues to rain down in blatant disregard
