Happy Who Year!
Horton heard a Who late one dark and quiet night
That surprised him when he observed the Who had taken flight
Surely everyone in Whoville had fallen sound asleep
And the only sound they should be making was a snore
Not a screeching who and most definitely not a peep
Horton hollered up to whoever was floating up yonder in the sky
Saying "Hi Who, won't you come down and greet me eye o eye?
But all he heard in return was the rustle of feathers flapping up above
Horton wondered who flies at night, but no one he could think of
For there are no bats in Whoville and it was too dark to be a morning dove
Horton walked along until he came upon a gnarly looking tree
That appeared to have a thousand eyes looking at him frightfully
Startled by the enormity of this paramount discovery
Horton hesitantly inquired, "are you the who, who asked who of me?
Just then he heard a thunder, or perhaps a wind, he could not tell
When all the sudden every Who jumped from the tree but not a single fell
They floated up then settled down, landing on his extraordinary nose
That more closely resembled an unraveled fire hose
In fear Horton closed his eyes as all those big round eyes kept asking
Who, who, whooooo are you?
He peaked with one eye open at who was doing at that whooshing
Afraid they might unfurl their wings and give his big bottom a good hard swooshing
But instead they made a new kind of friend on whoooom they could always count
For when one finds himself alone in darkness, finding trustworthy friends is paramount
