A Glass of Coke
I stared into the fire, few drinkers at the bar
talk of school and rugby; the oval ball not for me,
listened by the fire to its crackling comfort,
boxes of logs and sticks drying for tomorrow.
A glass of Coke (Monday is my 'dry' day)
chatting with Di' who's drinking tea.
Could have stayed at home
not risked the slippery road,
The thaw was set, at least tonight,
change not out of place.
Home again to plan tomorrow,
where to go and what to eat.
