Love Fades Not Away

Time passed so slowly for me I had not realized
The feelings seared within my heart did not fade away
Each day in my cathedral was heard an echo of yesterday
That hummed with harmonics as two joyous heartbeats played
Thumping in rhythmic time, interconnected through our chambers
Creating circulation between disconnected fallen souls
Never meant to be apart yet never learning to become whole
Now in my mind I am alone even though you were never gone
For unlike me your heart was free and you finally moved on
But not so easy for me while I remain imprisoned in the past
Frozen in the ticks of time during an age iced over in my mind
Here I am, an old man craving your warmth to thaw my icy bones
But in the depths of my frosty marrow, bitten and forever walking dead
Cursed to carry on eternally the passion two lovers both once bled
How I long to behold the graceful gaze that sparkles in your eyes
To press my lips against your lovely smile to become one in love
But one was all it ever was for your heart was never mine
Not even in our frenzied nights when amorous fire burned within
That was just a temporary torch you carried to find your way back home
Always making sure to quickly leave before the sunrise rose
Undead I wander past the graves of loved ones long since gone
In spite of the wooden stake driven deep into my bleeding heart
For I have learned love never dies and will not let my soul depart
