Knitting Apologies

Yarn rolled across linoleum
Unraveling by the second
Desperately trying
To wind it together
Again and yet

Once fraying
Can it really be expected
To travel through the needle eye?
Grasping yarn in clenched
Teeth, pushing
together once more,

Seeking to make
A sweater  to keep you warm
So you can mend, so we can amend --
Amen.
