Hitting Empty
my religion
sacred faith
not in church
or organized
so called
god
don’t know
him at all
hope resides
in family
beautiful
wife, and kids
the fruit
of a love
beyond pure
and eternal
i see joy
in connection
real and
divine
question
my talent
but never
the honesty
maybe i
should
retire soon
dismiss art
a clear
conscience
tasting
bittersweet
but i’m alive
a little
gasoline
remains
i’ll ride out
the fumes
till i simply
hit empty
sacred faith
not in church
or organized
so called
god
don’t know
him at all
hope resides
in family
beautiful
wife, and kids
the fruit
of a love
beyond pure
and eternal
i see joy
in connection
real and
divine
question
my talent
but never
the honesty
maybe i
should
retire soon
dismiss art
a clear
conscience
tasting
bittersweet
but i’m alive
a little
gasoline
remains
i’ll ride out
the fumes
till i simply
hit empty
