Something to Mail
a letter has been writ
using a graphite-influenced lead pencil
four pages
three photos were enclosed
something personal
something for her
something
just a rambling sort of letter
nothing particular
to say
merely desiring to reach out
to someone special
I didn't mail it yesterday
I won't mail it today
I shall keep it
intact
never to be opened
sitting here beside me
with words sealed, ne'er to be read

Oh, I have been mulling it over, Brenda, whether to mail it or not in the last few days. Thank you for stopping by, reading and commenting on my poetry!

I love that line, it's a sad sentiment. The words we should send out are usually the ones that we hold onto. Makes me think of my own. Hope this becomes resolved. Liike.

Many thanks going out to you, Shadez, for liking my, admittedly, sad poem.

this is a gem Jerry..for me it's another form of words unspoken, as the word speak would mean the sound reaching somone and convey your feelings/thoughts. Poignant write indeed Sir!

Yes, KDAmB, the unsent letter is absolutely "words unspoken," and that is precisely why it will never be sent, although I have had thoughts of sending it in the last few days. Thank you so very much for your outstanding comment. I am very content with things the way they are.

A part of me gets this in a very personal
way, ah yes, those that are never sent..
so much to say
yet maybe nothing a all but just a catch
of breath sealed within envelope for the
one intended.
Maybe one day or may not.

I apologize Howlings, What was earlier written here wasn't me, the author writing it, someone took possession of my computer without permission. I appreciate your response to my poem, very, very much. Thank you.

Letters are written never meaning to send....and I love you....yes I love youuuu....oh'o how I love youuuuuu...
One of my favorite songs ever. So melancholy a write, Jerry. The handwritten word is such a rarity in this electronic age, it such a shame it can't be mailed anyway.

Ah, Ahavati, I am a great fan of the Moody Blues, and that song must have been in the dark recesses of my brain. WoW! Thank you for pointing that out!
