Rejected Hippie: A Reading Poem

It was unrequited love: Spurred this on
She rejected his advances, it hurt him;
He was also rejected, in the freak scene;
Sad case, as no one clique would take him in
She was in these circles; he grew to like her,
Following her to a city to gloat,
Or if he could not have her no one could
He extinguished what he wanted for him,
But couldn't have, and was still seen as weird.
She passed on at her apartment building:
Alas, he has returned to their hometown,
Living a quiet life of misery.
Sad case indeed; she was his first and one true love,
But my friend, he's ill and will soon join her.
