SKULLS AND PERFUME

So begins the wait
Skulls and perfume
And skin so tender
I’ll wait forever
Just give me a glance
Lipstick and neon
These lights a chance
Open wide for me

Long, dark alley
You taste like death
It’s all that I wanted
To purge, to cleanse
Time is relative
Tears fall from lips
Our clothes kiss ankles
My words were shackles

So begins the wait

I love that you hate me
I move into the flame
Your hate fills my plate
More, I need it more
When you cry there
Breath escapes the air
So heavy, conditioned
In waves, you syncopate

So begins the wait

Arms outstretch, I welcome this
Stab me in the chest, twist
As long as you become empty
Empty like me

Stare me down further
My face next to yours
Whispered in your ear

‘Your fear turns me on’
And I couldn’t savor
A bloom plucked too soon
Now do me a favor
And tune my strings

I love that you love me
In dry blood and sweat
Now you’re complacent
Your wings like cement
They weigh you down
Faces in the crowd
Now there is water
But I will fade instead
