Skip With Me Like We're Children

I want to walk barefoot on emerald moss
Swim naked beneath a waterfall
To have nothing, yet the world be at my fingertips
To echo through the night like a whipoorwill's call

I want to still be madly in love when my hair is white
For butterflies to still flutter when he kisses my forehead
--Do stories like that really exist?
Or will mine be lost in the sheets on my bed?

I am torn between trying to make something of myself
Or forever drifting in the wind
To be happy with a quiet life of cricket and frogs' chorus
To never allow my obsession with freedom to end

A lust for passion, a desire for ecstasy
Hungry for a unique story of my own
I could take off and carve my own path
But I don't want to be gone too long
