STANDING FIRM
(a sonnet)
On valley’s smile my mind's eye lingers still
The flush and curve of every God made line
On smell and taste my sweet glazed fingers fill
The wonder of your craving depths define
How many nights I’ve dreamt to be encased
How many dreams I’ve spent found bound in you
The mouthly airs that turn and rise to taste
In turning mouth to end we find end’s due
But nights there are when dreams like demons come
When dark alone betrays my cur'sed heart
I reach to find a cold unreasoned numb
And long for love that press of lips impart
Yet I stand firm and take my fate in hand
With hope you'll come to take my firmly stand
