Quicksand

Leaden in
and immobilized,
grey and heavy
quicksand...

Steps were light the
way was quick,
the manner was
an even calm...

Intentions
drawn were blurred
glazed over
and sunken...

Wading in
the heavy truth
words were not
to prevail...

Slowly timed
yet surely ensued,
it dragged itself
onto here...

With usury on
both sides the risen
banks gave way
to paths...

Planned not
but taken, worked
but not carried
nor removed...

No time to
spare it was a
predestined thing
to be stuck...

Confirming to
affirm the intent
it got heavier to
bear, deeper...

Slowly moving
slackening around
me it ceased then
gave a bit...

I pulled away
feeling my skin
alive, drowned and
twisted...

Woken up to
magnitudes not
well known yet
felt within...

I wanted to
get away to leave
but was pulled, was
settled under...

I couldn't part
with the solidified way
and yet wanted to
emerge and escape...

Stayed, I remained
knowing the fate was
the best and only
way this time...

Unable to move
to shift and relate
my consolidated
mind consoled me...

Herein did I wait to
disintegrate to be
released of hate and
freed of late...

Wavering with
complacent shame
feigning love I played
his game...

The hour late the
burdensome fate
was not completely
sealed...

Voided space gave
water to infiltrate
loosening cold not
within replaced...

Flooded with a
heartened state the
gainful coalescence
was not to relegate...

Labored strained
in cartiginous zeal
the wasted ways
were not to congeal...

of presumptious blame...

It hardly had stay
so full of dismay
