The Wanderlust
I have bludgeoned my free spirit
With the pain of fearing the unknown
It slowly ate away at my need to discover
And has left me looking out a window
On a world going past
Time has sped that world up as I grow older
And the cure for that fear is still
Waiting to be found
But I will find it one day
And discover the world anew
Relearn my wanderlust
And go where the wind will blow me
As I did when I was a young man
And didn’t carry the weight of the world
Upon my sweating brow
And tired shoulders
Oh to be so free again
I yearn
With the pain of fearing the unknown
It slowly ate away at my need to discover
And has left me looking out a window
On a world going past
Time has sped that world up as I grow older
And the cure for that fear is still
Waiting to be found
But I will find it one day
And discover the world anew
Relearn my wanderlust
And go where the wind will blow me
As I did when I was a young man
And didn’t carry the weight of the world
Upon my sweating brow
And tired shoulders
Oh to be so free again
I yearn
