ASHES OF DECAY

And there she was…
Apathy enriched her facial purity
She was a mirage in the desert of a daydream
The likes of which I could never envision
Even in my most creative moments
Diamonds sculpted from the pressure of her glance
Those eyes of morning petrichor, reflecting the sun
Ianthine and amber nectar swirls
Flowing like a fractal into her pupil voids
And all stoicism would fall to her voice
Clarity of which, could split typhoons
An intangible panacea of the finest taste
Were her lips that spoke of worry and waste
Of promises broken and hearts shattered
That some would seek to set them free
How poignant, those feelings
Of a life un-lived and a solitude ubiquitous
Of lies that couldn’t bandage wounds
Of truths that wouldn’t comfort soon
I know you by your emptiness shared
In silence, you could tell tragic tales
I know you by your emotions bared
For all the world to tip the scales
A time grows short, and in time I find
That the bleakness could indeed be light
You need only to step out from nadir
To find that you locked yourself here
There is much beauty to discover yet
And that even the blackest black can reflect
Take my hand and depart with me
You’ll find the shallow from the deep
And like a phoenix, she was reborn
Birthed from the ashes of her decay
And there she was…
