Image for the poem AGAIN

AGAIN

With all these walls that prison me
Had made myself some herbal tea
Glancing outside to view the pier
Through the window I painted here
I went about these lengthy days
Daft parade in my unlit maze
Masquerading without a task
Fit to adorn this burdened mask
Again

With my heart cored like an apple
Leering presence of the chapel
Sipping from my body's chalice
Loathe had turned into pure malice
Just as though lament had stopped it
Could hear the candle as it lit
Pictures opened forgotten doors
Wished that I was forever yours
Again

All the rain had turned to ice
In your eyes
All the rust began to shine
In your eyes
Under the crying moonlight
I saw the trees start to glow
Never saw a night so bright
Never could I feel so low
In your eyes again

Thought that I'd seen your fair figure
Wind caressed her flowing hair
Tried to walk a little closer
Found that you were never there
