Image for the poem COME MORNING

COME MORNING

Let's pretend that I can last
That I forgot you
That it would all subside
The longing
A work of fiction
My strength is fading fast
I fall asleep now
Your image by my side
The morning
Waking my addiction

It's midnight and all I want to do is turn the motor on
And drive away
Taking my misery with me
It's not yours to bear
I light up a cigarette and in it's veil of smoke
The weight of regret makes me want to choke

The world is cruel and distasteful
Devotion is wasteful
I feel my presence fading from you
Lost inside a hundred dreams
Like a ghost of the past

Do you still mourn the days we've been apart?
Do you miss the beating of my heart?

Memories
Scars on me
Insecure
Pain is pure
Over now
Here without
Life inside
Death my guide

I want to tell you of the loss you've blessed
Of the gaping hole that was my chest
A stray emotion might flutter still
Like the last leaf falling from the hill
Faced with a sudden realization
My eyes are the shade of deprivation
Would you stay and be my subsistence
Before we're separated by the distance

I remember that glowering face
Like I saw it yesterday
Seething in a pool of disgust
Drowning in the darkness
With the sun shining above
I am suffering alone

Silent beneath the soil
Dysrhythmic patterns in my mind
I can feel the stars gazing
Laughing at my demise

The time has come for me to disappear

It's spring again
I see the world spring back to life
Pale vision is clearing
I've grown weary of the daylight
Emotions are withering
Hours feel like fortnights

This is one mistake
I'll never forgive
Here is nothing but prospering
And the ulcers are fading
The epitome of beauty

I see one sight ahead of me
A love that was decaying
Is now blossoming
I'll never leave you again
If you promise the same
To dry the rain
No amount of discord
Can turn my back on this
Unending bliss
Let's find each other again
Turn two minds into one
Life has just begun

I mourn the days we've been apart
I miss the beating of your heart
