Hometown: A Reading Poem

It was a scandal: In his hometown
Something to come out to expose his name;
Couldn't go back there, his family's disgrace;
When homosexuality involved
The social code; of the town won't allow it,
And someone knew this and followed him there,
Or chased him to the city one of them
They would not accept one of theirs as gay
Even when he moved far to a city,
Someone jealous, wanted it for himself.
But couldn't live it in his little town:
In the closet, secretly was this person,
His rage directed at Daniel; for how he lived,
Because he couldn't live the life himself.

It was this person too: Who was jealous
Why should Dan have freedom when he could not?;
A blend of hatred and lustful desire;
Fueled this man's rage and hate towards Daniel
He knew where he was; staying in the city,
Almost like a restaurant coming up,
Or this man promised dinner, knew Daniel
But only served to deliver deceit,
A paid accomplice may be involved here.
This man took Daniel's sunglasses with him:
On his apartment landing, planted them,
Nor to trace the crime back to him or home.
Made to look as one from his building; did the deed,
And knocked him out and load him in the truck.

Is thirty miles North-West: You may find
Had brought his body here from the city;
Isolated wooded area, off track;
You may find answers there near a white fence
As for Daniel's soul; he is soundly at peace,
And no grudges are held he says 'Forgive',
'Or the man involved not in his right mind
Never escaped town back then, as it were,
Living a life of oppression, back home.
Not living mine, that he felt entitled,
Nor is he happy or contented yet.
An odd mix; of wanting to join and a bigot,
And my case will come to fruition in time.'

It is in the town: A few people know
Have an idea who it is, won't talk;
A strange name, not a common Christian surname;
When it wasn't one from city at all
But one of their own; from their close-knit small town,
And people say city full of 'crazies',
Or 'don't walk in a certain area'
Laid down to rest thirty miles North-West,
Trust card upside down, trust had been betrayed.
Not fortunate for accomplice either:
Not in this realm, committed suicide,
Nor has this come to light in the gay scene.
Will leave with one final note; He will soon be found,
And DNA will do awesome wonders.
