Hidden
Evil is not a monster
The enemy is not a beast
Evil is not the darkness
The enemy is not a thief
The evil lives within us and among us
Smiling and laughing alongside us
It feeds you and loves you like family
It greets you as your neighbor
It stares at you in the mirror
To fight it you must hurt them
To defeat it you may lose them

Embrace it? Maybe. Accept it? Yes.
I was trying to convey the idea that we all have within ourselves the potential for evil and when in fact that evil
is strong enough to dictate behavior it doesn't look any
different that good. Evil doesn't always pronounce its presence. Not initially. It evolves from emotions into ideas
without distinguishing its appearance from its counterparts.
It seethes beneath the surface awaiting its opportunity to wreak havoc at times even catching its purveyor by surprise. So instead of looking for evil in a person's appearance we should instead watch our thoughts and check our emotions lest they awaken the darkness that lays dormant inside us.
