WRAITH IN THE MIRROR

I, with horror, last night beheld
A nightmare in the dream, I felt

Faintest glow of neon red
From outside, the day is dead

With cutis anserina
The veil is now undone

Behind me was a figure
A wraith trapped in the mirror

The mirror’s torment, day to day
Where I could not maintain my gaze

This mirror that reflects no light
Turned my world into the night

Dread instilled like coming storm
For missing face that was my norm

Feeble attempt to rationalize
Crusted over, must be these eyes

Blinded by subtle tears of sleep
From dreams that were too often, deep

But with time, cognizance came
And realizing that I am to blame

The wraith trapped in the mirror
With eyes that were dripping ichor

Kill me, karma, by the touch
I won’t run, I’ve done enough

My bloodshot recollections true
I am the one who murdered you
