Shedding Layers
October arrives and yet
her heat does not give way
to coolness: it still burns,,
this furnace between her thighs.
As leaves crumple beneath her;
She longs to lie on summer's debris
while he burnishes her tarnished skin
all the colours of fallen foliage.
and she throws back her head,
to breathe in the chill air;
She feels him catch the sweep
of her hair. Let him pulls her
lips apart: perfectly moist
for dry demands. Earth sheds
summer; she sheds layers.
